How credits are charged in CAM Assist

On this page

CAM Assist charges credits (sometimes called tokens) each time you assess, estimate, or generate CAM for a part. Every part uses 1 assessment/estimate credit, plus CAM credits if you generate toolpaths: a 3-axis part costs 4 credits in total and a 3+2 or 3+1 axis part costs 12. Your plan includes a monthly credit allowance; if you exceed it, your work is never blocked. This article explains what each action costs, what happens when you go over, and how overage bundles, auto-upgrades, and downgrades work.

What each action costs

Action Credits What's included
Part assessment or estimate 1 Manufacturability check or estimate CSV export. No CAM generation.
3-axis part 4 1 assessment/estimate + 3 CAM credits. Full toolpath generation.
3+2 or 3+1 axis part 12 1 assessment/estimate + 11 CAM credits. Multi-axis toolpath generation.

Credits are charged per part, not per user or per machine.

Monthly credit allowance by plan

Plan Credits / month Roughly equals
Hobbyist 20 20 assessments or 5 three-axis parts
Small Shop 70 70 assessments, 17 three-axis parts, or 5 multi-axis parts
Job Shop 200 200 assessments, 50 three-axis parts, or 16 multi-axis parts
Job Shop Plus 250 250 assessments, 62 three-axis parts, or 20 multi-axis parts
Job Shop Pro Unlimited No credit limit

What happens if you use more than your allowance

Your access continues uninterrupted. CAM Assist will never stop you mid-job.

First month over your limit

You'll receive a notification. You can then:

  • Buy an overage credit bundle to cover the extra usage. This resets your overage status for the month.
  • Upgrade your plan if your usage has grown.
  • Opt into usage blocking so CAM Assist stops at your credit limit next month.

Second consecutive month over your limit

If you go over again the following month without buying a bundle or opting into blocking, your account is automatically upgraded to the next plan immediately. There is no third warning.

Buying a bundle or opting into blocking in the first month prevents the auto-upgrade.

Overage credit bundles

Bundles are sold in blocks of credits at a per-credit overage rate that depends on your plan. For example, 100 extra credits on Job Shop cost $7.46 per credit ($746). Buying a bundle resets your overage counter for that month.

Downgrading

You can request a downgrade at any time with no penalty. It takes effect at the end of your current contract term, and your credit allowance and machine, user, and site limits adjust to the new plan.
